All About Estates. In this article, lawyer Elaine Blades talks about what happens with estates when two people - let's say a husband and wife - die at the same time, or in such a way that it's unknown who died first. What happens to their assets, especially if there are no children?
The outcome varies suprisingly widely across the country. This is because each province makes its own laws, and there is quite a difference between them. What would happen in your case? Would your parents or siblings get your estate? Would your partners' family get it all?
